First manager to win three times at the Bernabéu

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Josep Guardiola has become the first Barça manager to win three matches at the Santiago Bernabéu (2-6 in 2008/09, 0-2 in 2009/10 and 0-2 on Wednesday). We now look at this and other trivia from the game.

First manager to win three times at the Bernabéu
► Josep Guardiola has three wins and a draw to his name in four games at the Santiago Bernabéu. In those games, he has scored 11 goals and conceded just 3.

► It is now 1086 dies, since May 7, 2008, that Barça have not lost at Madrid. And the statistic will extend much further as they are not due to meet again until next season.

► The game was another Barcelona recital, who made three times more passes than Madrid (794 to 267).

► Gerard Piqué recovered the most balls, 16. No other player managed more than 10.

► Messi, the Barça hero, shot the most times in the game for FCB (4). He was only topped by Ronaldo (7), who had less success.

2011-04-27_PARTIDO_27.JPG► Víctor Valdés and Carles Puyol have not lost any of the last six clásicos they have played.

► The Barça keeper is actually the first to ever go seven clásicos in a row unbeaten.

► Sergi Roberto made his Champions League debut (he had previously only played 25 minutes in the cup against Ceuta). He played the last three minutes of the game at the Bernabéu, coming on for Villa. He has yet to make a Liga appearance.

► This is the first time Madrid have lost a Champions League match at the Santiago Bernabéu against a Spanish league team.

► Pinto, Sergio Ramos and Pepe will all miss the second leg, and Mourinho will have to watch the game from the stands.

► No player will be one yellow away from suspension at the Camp Nou. If Barça qualify, the only way they can have a player suspended at Wembley is through a sending off.

Guardiola: “We’re playing for the league on Saturday”

Vanessa Forns

Josep Guardiola hasn’t been distracted. On Saturday, Barça can go a big step further to the league title at Anoeta, and the coach guarantees that his players’ only concern is that game.

Guardiola: “We’re playing for the league on Saturday”
He didn’t want to answer any questions with respect to next Tuesday’s Champions League semi final, because for him right now, the league is the “absolute priority. We have to be very aware that much of the league title depends on what we do at what is always a tough ground. If we don’t focus our five senses on that, we won’t do it. Tomorrow we’re playing for a competition that lasts 11 months. It was hard against Almeria, against Osasuna, and I sense this game will also be difficult. Mathematically we are seven points away from the league title and every win means a huge step”.

Additional effort

2011-04-29_ENTRENO_07.JPGHe went on to say that “we have to find strength from wherever, we know that if we win we’ll practically be there”. He is asking his players for a special effort, but “they know that we are playing for the most important title of the year, one which shows regularity, effort and work, and that makes you feel the proudest. With the league title so close, there is no such thing as distractions. These three points can take us nearer to the title. At this point, there is no such thing as either physical or mental tiredness”.

Not letting go

Guardiola said that after Anoeta, Barça host Espanyol, and he would rather go into the derby with the same lead they have now. “Playing the derby with an 8-point lead would be comforting. It is the competition that we are most excited about and I don’t want to lose it through our own fault, or for us to do that because our minds are on other things. If we win tomorrow, the job is almost done”.

Support for the Board

2011-04-29_ENTRENO_65.JPGAsked about the official complaint issued by the club against Real Madrid and José Mourinho’s accusations in his post-match press conference at the Bernabéu, the manager said: “I can only support the decisions of the Board of Directors. I defend my institution. I have always been supported by the club’s directors. I have never felt alone or unprotected.”

Opposition

Asked about the next opponents, Real Sociedad, Guardiola said “they are a similar team to that in the first match. They’re enthusiastic. They’re an intense team, who play well down the wings. In Tamudo they have a striker who always scores goals and they have some local players that will want to make sure their team stays in the first division”.

Four names

2011-04-29_ENTRENO_68.JPGHe ended by mentioning four specific players. Puyol has not been picked so he can get some rest. Messi has taken a couple of knocks and didn’t train on Friday, and so “we’ll have a look on Saturday and make our evaluation … but I don’t want my players to reserve anything because of things we have to do in the future”. Sergi Roberto, who is in the squad, he described as having “strength and a promising future”. And as for a possible return of Abidal, Guardiola said “I’d never play him unless there was a 0% chance of any risk”.

Barça present official complaint to UEFA

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Barça will present an official complaint about the Real Madrid manager to UEFA’s Control and Disciplinary Body for what it considers “a violation of basic standards of behaviour”.

Barça present official complaint to UEFA
The FC Barcelona Board of Directors, called together by president Sandro Rosell for an extraordinary meeting, has decided to make an official complaint to UEFA’s Control and Disciplinary Body about the serious accusations made by the Real Madrid coach in his press conference yesterday, after the Champions League semi final first leg.

Toni Freixa, secretary and spokesman of the Board, has said after the board meeting that Barça "wishes to defend the history, prestige and honour of our members, supporters, players, coaches and directors thanks to whose work and effort the Champions League was won in 2009."

Unacceptable statements

2011-04-27_PARTIDO_02.JPGFreixa has added that the Real Madrid coach’s comments are “constitutive violations typified by article 5, letters B and D, of the UEFA code of behaviour; as a violation of the basic standards of behaviour and as actions that are damaging to the reputation of football and UEFA”.

The spokesman for the board has said that Barça is taking this measure because it feels it “unacceptable for somebody to dare question our history, our titles and our relation with Unicef”. By lodging this complaint, Barça “wants to put out the fire” because it “rejects dialectic confrontations” and “trusts the disciplinary bodies”.

Refusal to water grass

As for Real Madrid’s refusal to water the Bernabéu grass an hour before the game, as had been agreed by the all-whites, Barça and UEFA, Freixa said that the Club made “a complaint in the referee’s report” and that the Club “has not received any explanation in this respect” from Real Madrid.

Absence of Catalan

On the absence of the use of Catalan on the Bernabéu sound system at the end of the game, Freixa said “it ignores the right to receive instructions in our own language”. According to Freixa, Madrid’s argument was that “the Police were opposed to speaking in Catalan because it could cause a disturbance of public order”. Finally, even though the Police authorised it, the club “did not invite the FC Barcelona employees to announce in Catalan”, at the end of the game.

Support for the first team

Freixa indicated that these actions enjoyed the support of the first team and its coaches and would never expect a Barça coach to speak the way Mourinho did. It was also confirmed that the club is waiting for a resolution regarding the suspension of Pinto and if they consider it “unfair” then an appeal will be made. Freixa added that these actions do not affect the institutional relations between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

UEFA investigations

Freixa also stated that UEFA has also launched investigations into Real Madrid for the throwing of objects, a pitch invasion, the red card shown to Pepe, the sending off of José Mourinho and the manager’s statements. And into Barça in relation to the red card shown to Pinto.

To Anoeta, four years on

David Puig

On Saturday, Barça go to Anoeta for the first time since 2007. Their last visit to Real Sociedad ended in a 2-0 win against a side that ultimately faced the drop to the second division.

To Anoeta, four years on
Historically difficult trip
Both at the old Atotxa stadium and the new Anoeta, Barça have often found things heavy going. In 63 games between Real Sociedad and Barça in the Basque Country, Barça have only won 17. They have suffered 24 defeats and there have been 22 draws. In these games, Real Sociedad have scored 89 goals, four more than Barça with 85.
After four years, Barça are going back to tread the Anoeta turf. The last time was on the 33rd day of the League Championship of 2006/07, when Frank Rijkaard took the team to San Sebastian as league leaders by just one point over Sevilla, and two over third placed Real Madrid. Barça won 2-0 after losing their last two away matches.

Fruitless first half dominance

rsociedad-fcb2007.jpgBarça’s side featured Valdés, Zambrotta, Thuram, Puyol, Gio, Edmílson, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Eto’o and Ronaldinho, with Gudjohnsen and Oleguer coming on in the second half. Without playing brilliant football, Barça dominated the first 45 minutes and got the best chances, with Xavi coming close after 27 when keeper Bravo turned the ball behind for a corner and the same man also had a goal disallowed for offside. Real Sociedad had set out to defend, and got what they wanted when the first half ended scoreless.

Iniesta goal changes game

rsociedad-fcb2007_x1x.jpgTwo minutes after the break, Ronaldinho and Iniesta came into their own. The latter scored following an assist from the Brazilian, and that meant Miguel Angel Lotina was finally forced to send his team into attack. But that just served to create more space for Barça.

Eto’o and Ronaldinho tested Bravo and then Messi was the victim of an unawarded penalty by referee Teixiera Vitienes. Only Brazilian Savio was causing any danger on Valdés’ goal. The second goal came late on, from another assist from Ronaldinho to allow Eto’o to slot home beneath Bravo. The three points meant Barça collected three points that kept them top of the league, while Real Madrid moved into second place by beating Sevilla 3-2.

2011-04-29_ENTRENO_30.JPGIniesta continues to receive treatment for the calf strain that kept him out of Wednesday’s Champions League semi final in Madrid, whilst Puyol joins Abidal, Maxwell, Adriano and Bojan in the list of injured players.

Session behind closed doors

The team trained behind closed doors at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper this morning and Leo Messi trained normally with the group. Players in Barcelona enjoy win too

www.fcbarcelona.cat

There was a party atmosphere in the Barça dressing room at the Santiago Bernabéu after last night’s win. But the four players left in Barcelona enjoyed the game too.

Players in Barcelona enjoy win too
Due to injury and health problems, Bojan, Maxwell, Abidal and Adriano were not at the Santiago Bernabéu, but decided to get together anyway to enjoy the Champions League semi final on television.

The four players were joined by Paco Seirul•lo (fitness coach), Francesc Cos (fitness coach), Daniel Medina (doctor) and Roger Gironès (physio) on Wednesday night to watch the game in Restaurant Emperador in the Old Port in Barcelona. The supper ended in celebrations (0-2).

HEAD-TO-HEAD El Clasico: Real Madrid Masih Unggul Tipis Atas Barcelona

Lima Pertemuan Terakhir
29/11/2010: Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid
11/04/2010: Real Madrid 0-2 Barcelona
30/11/2009: Barcelona 1-0 Real Madrid
03/05/2009: Real Madrid 2-6 Barcelona
14/12/2008: Barcelona 2-0 Real Madrid

Debut El Clasico berakhir menyakitkan buat "The Special One" ketika timnya dipecundangi Blaugrana di Camp Nou lima gol tanpa balas.

Namun dalam urusan mencetak gol, Real Madrid masih unggul atas Barcelona. Sebanyak 262 gol dicetak Real Madrid ke gawang Barcelona. Sebaliknya, Barcelona membobol gawang Madrid 250 kali.
